Making Spirits Bright

making-spirits-brightWhat are you all up to this holiday season? Busy choosing the perfect tree, ice skating with your kids, forgetting to move that darn elf?? A lot of people have X amount of things they HAVE to do because it’s tradition and it brings joy to their family. What about helping to make other’s spirits bright, besides your family? There are endless ways to give to people in need at this time of year. Donating food, coats or diapers to a crisis nursery is one way we have given back to our community. Humane societies often have a list of things they’re always in need of, like, blankets, news papers, chew toys or food. Maybe you aren’t able to give monetarily this year, so bring your kids to help stuff packages or make cards for our soldiers overseas. If nothing else, while buying Christmas presents for your family, use AmazonSmile and add an organization you would like to contribute to. With every purchase, you can send 0.5% to any charity you choose. It doesn’t seem like much but every little bit helps. Not to take away from the magic of holiday tradition, but new traditions can always be made.

This is not a sponsored post. I just thing AmazonSmile rocks!

  1. This year, we volunteered to “adopt” a child at J’s daycare & be that kid’s Santa. We went to Target & picked out a toy. We wrapped it. J wrote the boy’s name and his own name on the package, and we delivered it to school. J also requested that we buy “a monster truck” for baby O. Trying to remind him that this season is about giving, not just receiving. When he opens presents, I also hope that he is gracious and shows gratitude, even if he gets stuff he doesn’t want.
