Hello loves! Today marks my 30th Birthday celebration here on planet Earth. I’ve never been one to be worried about getting older or telling my age. I don’t see age as a bad thing, in fact, I see it as a way to show how wise and experienced you are!
I don’t have any special plans to celebrate my Birthday since we’re on Whole60 and most of my friends and family live a couple hours away. I am very excited to spend time with my family, inside, with a fire and look forward to the big Birthday celebration that will happen in September (Disney World)! For my blog life celebration, I wanted to share with you 30 things that I have learned over the past few decades. Some of these nuggets of wisdom are profound, some are silly, but they are all very meaningful in my life.
- Invest in people that invest in you.
- Don’t compare your weakness to another’s strength.
- Always use SPF.
- Don’t cut your own bangs.
- If something isn’t working, don’t give up, just try something else.
- Some people can’t breastfeed, and that’s ok.
- If you feel sad, it’s possible that you’re just bored.
- It doesn’t hurt to ask.
- If you want to be better at something, you have to practice.
- Finding a great stylist, masseuse and nail tech in the same town is near impossible.
- If there’s something you like, just do it/wear it/sing it/read it/make it!
- Coloring books are the poor person’s therapy.
- Germs are good.
- NASA is awesome.
- The Beatles are the best choice for any mood.
- There is no ‘too old’ or ‘too young’ for Disney World. Ever.
- Photography is an invaluable skill.
- ‘Making someone’s day’ makes my day.
- Never move if there is a sleeping child on you.
- Tell people you love them, every chance you get.
- A BigMac and Gatorade will cure any hangover.
- Say what you’re thinking.
- Don’t be afraid of power tools.
- Do be afraid of spiders. They’re the worst.
- Nothing is more calming than the sound of the ocean.
- Buy yourself flowers.
- Living in all four season’s is awesome, except the 80% of the time when it’s too cold or too hot.
- There’s no such thing as too many Christmas decorations or nail polish
- Volunteer. It makes your heart happy.
- Puppies are so worth it.
What’s the biggest nugget of wisdom that you’ve learned from your past? Am I right about the spiders? Ew.

Happy 30th! I totally agree about puppies and photography. And Disney World!!
The only one I can’t vouch for is a Big Mac and Gatorade since I’ve never had one… a Big Mac OR a Gatorade. Maybe by 40!

Thanks Tamara! I don’t wish a hangover on you, but now you know the tools to make it go away faster. ๐

First, happy birthday! Big milestone birthday! LOVE this list. Many I can relate to – it’s ok that I couldn’t breastfeed, it doesn’t hurt to ask, ALWAYS use SPF (even in winter), I love my coloring book!, I love the calming ocean too (or any body of water). LOL on it being too cold or too hot (people are always complaining about the weather) I love that in my 30s, I don’t care as much what other people think. I am me and I’m really happy with me. Thank goodness I’m not a teenager trying to fit in anymore!

Happy birthday Shelly! You are right! You are never too old for Disney World and puppies!
Shelly says
Thanks Chel! NEVER EVER too young or too old! ๐

Happy 30th birthday! I agree with you about #4 – I learned this the hard way sometime during my preteen days.

HAHAH! Oh the days of self cut hair and sun in! ๐ My sister tried highlighting my hair with a cap where you pull strands through a cap you wear. My hair was suuuuper long and thick and I’m pretty sure she pulled out half of it! ๐ She also cut my hair in ‘layers’ which looked like stairs. ๐

Happy belated Birthday! Welcome to the fabulous thirties. This is a good list. I especially like the one about “saying what you’re thinking..”
