Halloween Party Treats

Halloween Party Treats- For today, we’re talking treats, not tricks. Here are my top 10 favorite Halloween desserts that I am excited to try out. I love doing round ups so we can all have a chance to check out other blogs and share their awesome talents with others! Go check these ladies out and make a few Halloween party treats with your family!

The biggest reason I love these treats is for their level of cuteness and how easy they are to make! I also like how so many of them are kid friendly, so get your kids involved! Another great treat comes after Halloween once you’re overflowing with candy bars…cookie pizza with candy bar toppings! My favorite dessert ever!

Amy’s (The Idea Room) Monster Eye Cookies are what I want to try the most this Halloween! The mixture of peanutbutter chocolate chip cookies with a carmel Rolo on top?! You’ve got my attention! I also love that you can customize these guys by using your favorite cookie recipe.

She has a great tutorial on how to make these creepy crawly cookies. Have a favorite sugar cookie recipe from your great grandma? Perfect reason to use it! Does the web marbling remind anyone of nail marbling?
Eye-of-Newt-PretzelsSheryl’s (Lady Behind the Curtain) Eye of Newt Pretzels are hilariously adorable! I love the colors she used and that there’s a little salt added into the dessert mix! These would be great to wrap as favors as well!
monsters-cookies-sugarMy girl, Meaghan (The Decorated Cookie), knows a thing or two about decorating cookies and these Fun Monster Cookies show off her talent! These would be so fun to decorate with the whole family and see all the different expressions everyone could come up with!
Yummy-Gooey-Monster-Cookies-1Ok, anyone seeing a pattern here? I must be crushin’ on Monsters this year! I think it’s the googly eyes!! Kristyn (Lil Luna) made these Gooey Monster Cookies look so fun to make AND they sound absolutely delish! You could make the dye for the cookies match the color theme of your party too!
Candy-Corn-treatsWhat’s Halloween without Candy Corn?! Anyone else eat them one color at a time? What about those candy-corn-like-pumpkins that you have to eat the green stem off first? No? Ok, well these Candy Corn Rice Crispy Treats that Glory (Glorious Treats) made are genius! So easy and super cute!
Halloween-BarkSpeaking of candy corn, this Halloween bark could not be cuter, tastier or easier! I love bark because you can make a lot of it with little effort and it always looks so fun! Corey (Family Fresh Meals) made this Halloween Bark super cute by adding that extra bit of Halloween party sprinkles and using Halloween Oreos!mickey-pumpkin-whoopie-pies-recipe-photoWhat would a Halloween Treats Round-Up be without something PUMPKIN FLAVORED?! I’ve never tried to make woopie pies but I imagine there is nothing cuter in this world than these Mickey Pumpkin Woopies (Disney Family)! My mouth is watering.
monster_eye_cakeCarrie (The Cake Blog) is quite the master of cakes but I’m pretty sure I could do this Monster Eye Cake! It’s adorable! It would be fun to dye the cake batter green or purple as a fun surprise once it’s cut.
Who wants to come over to make these treats with me? It’d be fun to make the cookies or pretzels and take them to the neighbors! Have you had a Halloween Party in the past? Make any cute treats? I may have to make some monster decorations since clearly I’m a bit obsessed.

1st Birthday Party Ideas

Happy Happy Friday! I’m super pumped about this Friday Finds post because I got to do it around 1st Birthday Party Ideas for Sophie’s Birthday in two months. Pinterest is INSANE with making it look like you have to do a super massive party for a child’s first birthday. The ideas I saw on there were overwhelming! I decided I wanted to try to DiY her party using supplies we already have. Once I got a better idea of what I wanted her party to look like, I realized I will have to buy a few lot of balloons and some floral pins but I’d say that’s pretty good for me (usually I spend a bit too much on birthday decorations.) I decided I wanted Sophie’s theme to be happy/fun/colorful just like she is. She has the biggest personality to match her larger than life smile. I thought a ‘confetti/sprinkles’ type party would suit her perfectly.

  1. Confetti Balloons are SO fun and I knew I had to try my hand at them for her party. I love the huge round balloons but those are pretty pricey so I thought I’d get more bang for my buck by using regular, clear balloons. Kristen wrote an awesome tutorial at KojoDesigns when she made them for her little girl’s party.
  2. Cake. Duh. Very important part of every party but especially a little girl’s first birthday party. I love the whimsical 1 on this birthday cake by Kristine at Kristine’s Kitchen. Her cake sounds phenomenal too but I think I’ll have enough stuff going on that I’ll probably buy a mix.
  3. I’m a big garland fanatic. I make a new garland for every party we have. I have a Sophia bunting that hangs over her crib that I’ll use somewhere but I also wanted to make some pompom garland that can go in her room once the party’s over! I just got a clover pompom maker and Tara at One Stylish Party has a great tutorial on how to use the pompom maker.
  4. Big Ole Welcome Wreath! I wanted to make a wreath that I could use every year for birthday parties. I thought this balloon wreath made by Erin at Just Two More Seconds screamed ‘birthday party and fun to be had inside!’
  5. Finally, I MUST show a year of photos of my baby girl. There will probably be a slide show or video playing but I thought this 1 display of photos shared by Emily at Babble was seriously cute. I only have about 3,000 photos to go through from this past year…nbd.

I’m just tickled to be thinking about celebrating our little girl with our immediate family and some of her favorite friends! I wanted her gift from us to be fairly small but meaningful and I’d seen Tamara post a personalized children’s book called The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name. She’s obviously too young to read this book but we can start reading it to her now  while she looks at the beautifully illustrated pages. What did you do for your child’s first birthdays? What did you learn from that party that you will remember for all future parties? Now I want cake.

July 4th Finds

Hello fellow Americans! (If you’re not American, you can still read this post, and are encouraged to celebrate July 4th because it’s everything that’s awesome about America!) Last year I celebrated the 4th quite leisurely. I was rather large with a lil bean in my belly and wasn’t too interested in festivals or 90 degree weather. I spent the day doing my nails (poorly), watching The Sandlot and taking some treats over to our neighbors for the block party. We couldn’t see the fireworks last year because they moved locations but there were still plenty of massive fireworks being set off. I think the states that ban fireworks may have bigger household fireworks BECAUSE it’s illegal.

July-4-2013This year, we will be celebrating (with lil bean out of my belly) in St. Louis after a week visiting our family in Oklahoma! Depending on the weather, we want to check out the 4th of July parade and festival at the park, go to the zoo and watch the fireworks. All of these things will be new adventures for Sophie and I’m super excited! This week’s Friday Finds are things that I’d love to make for our 4th but will have to hold off until next year!

  1. Vanessa’s awesome food blog, called One Sweet Appetite, has the cutest popcorn cone printables! I’m not sure why I think popcorn is an ‘American’ food but I feel it definitely has it’s place on the 4th!
  2. I’ve had this super cute streamers decoration, from Style Me Pretty, pinned for years and think it would be an inexpensive way to dress up an outdoor party for the 4th!
  3. Lorie, at Be Different Act Normal, has the CUTEST bunting idea for the traditional 4th of July pie! It’d be super simple to make them out of washi tape using red & white stripe and blue & white polka dots!
  4. I love the extremely patriotic cake that Rachel made over at Bubbly Nature Creations! I would have to do yellow cake because that’s the only cake I ever make (it’s my husband’s fav!) I think the covered pretzels are a great salty addition to the sweet cake!
  5. How does this not have July 4th in America written all over it?! Sherri made this Pinterest inspired bandana tablecloth and has a great tutorial at Made from Pinterest!

I’m a little jealous I won’t get to celebrate by mixing two of my greatest loves: crafts and America, but I’m super pumped to be going on an adventure and doing something new! If you have little ones, I thought this 4th of July scavenger hunt that Heather put together was a super cute idea!! Who doesn’t love scavenger hunts?! What are your plans for July 4th? Any traditions you will be partaking in? My Dad always used to have the best firework show in our neighborhood! Next year I kind of want to decorate my bike and ride it around town! I’m a dork like that.
