8 Office Must Haves

If you have any job or hobby that requires you to sit at a desk for more than a half hour at a time, it’s a good idea to have a clear space with items that help you be more productive. For me, there are 8 office must haves.

8 Office Must Haves
As I write here at my desk I realize the things that every functioning desk should have. Whether it be for functionality or inspiration, the staples that I like to keep at my desk are:
1. Feminine or graphic at-a-glance calendar.
2. Greenery. In this case a geometric terrarium which is low maintenance and pleasing to the eye.
3. Task lamp. I have a regular desk lamp and a directional task lamp that I use frequently (especially in the evenings when the sun is down and I’m crafting.)
4. A comfortable chair. This chair was a Christmas present to me three years ago and I love it. It’s easy to raise and lower as well as lock it so it doesn’t recline. The only downfall is the white leather. I wore new dark blue jeans on it one day and it now has some spots on the seat. Lesson learned: no new jeans on white furniture.
5. Hardy notebook. I have LOTS of notebooks for various subjects/ideas but this notebook is my favorite for blogging. I keep some tabs near by to mark specific chapters and it still looks sophisticated sitting on my desk.
6. A SWEET pencil holder. I don’t have this brass holder, but I wish I did. I try my hardest to keep my desk minimal of clutter and this holder would be perfect for anyone who does a lot of journaling. It would even be cute with colored pencils in it if you’re a doodler.
7. Your favorite pen. Mine changes every few months but I always have a Sharpie pen nearby. They have the thickness I like and don’t bleed through the page.
8. Reading glasses. Or in my case, fake red rimmed reading glasses. I have no idea why I love these but they make me feel bloggier!? I wore them to Barnes and Noble and felt like I belonged there. I’ll try them out at Starbucks next and see how that goes. In any case, you don’t necessarily need red rimmed glasses at your desk but having something (favorite scarf, lipstick, lotion etc.) you can throw on to make yourself feel good and stay focused is key.
Now I’m inspired to completely slim down my desk again. Let’s see how long it lasts. What are some must-haves for your work or home desk area?
Also, I’ve been working on a moodboard on Pinterest for my dream office/craft space. Do you have a board like this?

5 Fav Teen Girl Nerd Books

nerd books
Don’t you LOVE when you find out there are more books to a series you once obsessed over?! That. Just. Happened! I’m 29 but I am really into YA books as my fun-time reading. I get quite nostalgic when I hear certain music and think about being in the stories I obsessed over, for example, MUSE reminds me of Twilight. Thankfully some of my favorite series were put into movies so I can read and watch them 1 billion times (as I do.) Here’s my top 5 favorite teen girl nerd books:
5 Fav Teen Girl Nerd Books
  1. ‘Arry Potta series. Duh. It’s my all time favorite series in of any category. Has it really been 15 years since I first discovered Hogwarts?!
  2. Twilight saga. Yes, I’m a proud Twihard and I’m team Cullen. I just can’t help it.
  3. Uglies series. Scott Westerfield has several series out that I like but Uglies is a super fun/geeky read.
  4. Hunger Games series. I’ve loved watching these movies come out! I get a jolt of nervousness, like I’m back in the games, every time I hear the mocking jay call on a commercial!
  5. House of Night series. A vamp series (the one I just found out there are now 11 books! I’ve only read 6…way behind.)

Man, I really want to re-read all of these series right now! What have you guys been reading lately? Are you a nerdy teen at heart? Team Jacob or Team Edward?

Perfect Picnic Essentials

picnic

Spring is right around the corner and I am dreaming of going to a nearby park to soak up some rays! Our picnic experience will be quite different now that we have a baby but I’ve included what makes for a perfect picnic san baby. All of these things are not ACTUAL necessities but they make for a more enjoyable time.

Perfect Picnic
1. Sun hat for shading your face as well as holding your hair back from the wind.
2. Book to escape to. My favorite device for reading is the Kindle Paperwhite. There is no glare, it’s light and it’s easy to grab a new book if you finish yours while you’re at the park.
3. Camera to capture the fun in action. This Fuji camera is the modern version of the Polaroid.
4. Darling sun dress to romp around in.
5. Bicycle to cruise the park on-preferably with a basket for your nature scavenger hunt.
6. Comfy blanket to sprawl out and relax with your loved ones.
7. Jams to listen to while you eat, read, or play games. We have two of these (one was a gift) and we love them! They have awesome sound quality and can hook up wirelessly to any tablet or smartphone.
8. Pic-a-nic basket to haul your refreshing drinks and sweet treats in. My go to picnic meal is a chicken salad croissant, pringles, grapes and Sunkist. I’m a simple girl.

9. Sunnies mainly to look cute but also to protect your eyes from UVB.

So grab your favorite drink, throw these items in your picnic basket and you’ll be all set for a spontaneous date! What are your picnic essentials?

Harry Potter Inspired: BohoHarry

I’ve recently been playing around with Polyvore where you can create home or fashion mood boards. This is the first one I created as a ‘I’d love to be able to pull outfit off’ board. It’s mainly boho/tribal with a bit of Harry Potter (BohoHarry) in the mix with Nagini and the nod to Tale of the Three Brothers. Beach wear is also on my mind b/c we’re planning a trip to Gulf Shores, AL. Have you ever used Polyvore? If so, leave your name in the comments and I’ll follow you!
